About Anurag
Anurag Mehrotra is an Assistant Professor – Finance in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia – Terry College of Business. Prior to joining SDSU, Anurag has spent 15 years as a banker and private equity investor in the real estate space. As a banker, he underwrote and financed billions of dollars of real estate across the United States. He was then tapped to lead the investment activities for a $250 million private equity fund that deployed mezzanine capital across India.
Anurag gave up a successful (and lucrative) career to enter academia because he wanted to play a role in shaping future generations. By sharing his knowledge, he hopes to make a difference and help guide the next generation into their future careers. Anurag is a lifelong learner – as a college professor, he enjoys staying on top of his game. He is aware of changes in his field and industry – in fact he is busy paving the way of the future through his research.
In addition to his service in academia, Anurag has volunteered his time for volunteer organizations like Habitat for Humanity, and the Ann Arbor Jaycees. In his spare time, Anurag loves to ride motorcycles, enjoy long mountain hikes, bake sourdough loaves and smoke/ grill meats on his Kamado Joe grill. His wife of 19 years is a homemaker and plays a key role in supporting the family, which includes raising their two children: 15-year-old daughter and 9 year old son.
